Culinary Skills Level 2 Certificate at Northampton College

Course description

The Level 2 Culinary Skills qualifications will suit you if you have some basic skills and experience as a chef, probably from a role where you work under supervision and you want to gain a formal qualification and increase your skills so that you can take on a more senior role. You will cover things like: - Food safety - Health and safety in catering - Healthier foods - Costs and menu planning - Preparing and cooking different foods.

Course content

This course is for those who may wish to progress to a Level 3 qualification or employment in a related area.

Entry requirements

VRQ Level 1 Professional Chefs Diploma or four GCSEs at Grade D or over together with relevant industrial experience.

Assessment

For these qualifications you will complete practical demonstrations/synoptic exams, assignments and take a multiple choice examination.

Future opportunities

This course is for those who wish to progress to a Level 3 qualification or employment in a related area.

Further information

You will need a clean, pressed chefs uniform when working in the kitchen together with safety shoes. Details will be sent out when agreed with the uniform supplier. Financial help may be available through the College's bursary fund.
