Product Design 3D at English Martyrs School and Sixth Form College

Course description

At AS 2 Units of work
Unit 1 - A written exam testing knowledge of
materials, manufacturing, products, designers
and CAD/CAM together with industrial
practices.
Unit 2- A coursework unit where students
must produce a portfolio of work including
two practical outcomes - a chair based on
the style of Bauhaus or Memphis and a pair
of designer frames.
At A2 you will complete a further 2 units of
work.
Unit 3 - A written exam that builds on
existing knowledge developed from Unit 1
but considered in a much greater depth.
Unit 4 - A coursework unit where students
must complete one linear project based on a
theme of their choice providing the theme is
innovative and creative.

Entry requirements

A GCSE in Maths, English and Science and a
Technology subject would normally be
required. The GCSE in Technology should be
an A*-C grade preferably in Resistant
Materials, Graphic Products or Product
Design, though other Technology subjects
may also be acceptable.
