Course description

The qualification is built around 4 core units that allow the students to gain an insight into the uniformed public services. Students will develop skills and attributes that are essential for a successful working life.

The course enables students to understand the roles, policies, procedures and backgrounds of the uniformed public services. Students will undertake a variety of units that will build their understanding and qualification.

Entry requirements

The Public Services course is ideally suited to those who have an interest in working in the public services and who have achieved 5 GCSEs at a grade A-C including English and Maths . It is also essential that you are hard working, enthusiastic and able to express yourself well in a written format.

Assessment

The course will be assessed by a portfolio of work for each unit. The work will be assessed by teaching staff and then verified by Edexcel. This course is worth 2 A levels.

Future opportunities

Students who study this subject may enter many careers in the public services or undertake further study in public services. Students may also continue to university to complete a number of courses including criminology, law or management.
