Accounting A-Level at George Salter Academy

Course description

The Accounting course equips students with the necessary knowledge and skills to be able to assess the performance of all types of business organisation. It enables students to effectively analyse and evaluate financial data so that judgements, decisions and recommendations can be made in business.

Progression routes from this course

Many students who take Accounting go on to university and become qualified accountants, working within accountancy practices or within an organisation. Your financial acumen may support a range of other careers, or you may wish to start up your own business.

Modules/units

Unit 1: Introduction to Financial Accounting

Unit 2: Financial and Management Accounting

Unit 3: Further Financial Accounting

Unit 4: Further Management Accounting

Assessment

All units are assessed through external examinations. Units 1 and 2 are one and a half hours long. Units 3 and 4 are two hours long.

Entry requirements

A grade C at GCSE English is an essential foregrounding to this course.
