Engineering Extended Diploma at Lytham Sixth Form College

Course description

This course provides an opportunity to specialise in one of three distinct branches of engineering: Aeronautical; Electrical and Electronic; and Manufacturing. Developed with industry to align content to both student and employer requirements, students will develop subject specific knowledge alongside practical and problem-solving skills, with support for Maths and English where appropriate. We have excellent relationships with employers such as BAE Systems, Cuadrilla, Westinghouse Springfields, Centrica, EDF Energy and Kilgour Industries, via which experience of work may be available to support contextualised learning. Our students typically progress to higher education, with our own range of programmes, validated by Lancaster University, a popular choice.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at grade C or above including Maths OR a relevant Level 2 Diploma at merit OR an equivalent qualification, plus GCSE Maths. (Students with a grade D in English will be accepted, but must study a GCSE in English alongside this programme.)
