The Food Manufacturing NVQ’s have been replaced with Improve Proficiency Qualification’s (IPQ) and the apprenticeship framework has been updated and is now called Improve Proficiency Apprenticeship in Food and Drink.

Poultec’s IPQ and Apprenticeship delivery all takes place in the workplace and is planned with the employer to ensure all staff receive the required training, including staff on the night shift. Poultec have developed customised training pathways which relate directly to the employer’s varied work procedures and tasks making the training 100% relevant to all learners.
Poultec offers a wide range of industry relevant short courses, which include various Food Safety, Health and Safety and Leadership courses at different levels to cater for the entire workforce.
Level 2: You are working in or would like to work in the food manufacture industry and want to gain the knowledge you need as a food processor, baker, butcher or dairy worker as well as developing practical skills.
Level 3: You have completed a Level 2 qualification or have plenty of experience of working in the food manufacture industry. You want to develop your knowledge and skills further and are within a supervisory, team leader or specialist role (eg. QA, Technical or Cleaning).
Level 2 Improve Proficiency Qualification
This qualification is ideal for those who currently work within the food manufacturing industry and wish to gain a nationally recognised qualification. The Food and Drink Qualifications (FDQ) Level 2 Improve Proficiency Qualification (IPQ) is aimed at operative level and there are no entry requirements, however candidates will need to be able to demonstrate competence and gather evidence to build their e-portfolio.
Delivery is flexible and tailored to individual company requirements. All training is delivered on site and during the candidates normal working hours/shift. Candidates build an e-portfolio of evidence during this award, which is theirs to keep, and can be a useful reference guide. Assessors will visit candidates once a month and carry out direct observations. All visits are planned in advance with the employer to ensure that disruption to the workplace is minimised.
This qualification will take approximately 9 months from induction to completion of the award. To gain this qualification, candidates will be required to complete units relevant to their work role, each which have a credit value – to obtain either an Award, Certificate and Diploma the specified minimal credits have to be obtained. This qualification has a variety units available and these will be selected with the learner during the induction process.
