Business Studies A Level at Little Heath School

Course description

The A Level Business Studies course take a holistic approach to the subject, demonstrating the interrelated nature of business issues and situations. Students will focus on topics that are relevant in today's society such as digital technology, business ethics and globalisation. Students will develop the knowledge and skills needed to analyse data, think critically about issues and make informed decisions.

Course content

Students who choose the s tudy for the A Level qualification will complete the following units:

What is business?

Managers, leadership and decision making

Decision making to improve marketing performance

Decision making to improve operational performance

Decision making to improve financial performance

Decision making to improve human resource performance

Analysing the strategic position of a business

Choosing strategic direction

Strategic methods how to pursue strategies

Managing strategic change

Entry requirements

You must gain 5 Grade A* - C GCSE passes, including Grade B in English and Mathematics.

Assessment

Assessments are based on examinations in both year 12 and 13.

Future opportunities

The course qualififies students for UCAS points and gives them a wide choice of progression options including university courses, training or relevant employment in the business sector. A Level business studies enables students to develop a range of transferable skills which are relevant to any career, but particularly those in management, accounting and marketing.
