Health and Social Care Double Award at Batley Girls' High School - Visual Arts College
Candidates will experience vocationally related learning. The course provides technical knowledge, skills and understanding associated with Health and Social Care.
The course is designed to provide a range of teaching, learning and assessment styles to motivate candidates to achieve the best they can and empower them to take charge of their own learning and development.
Candidates will learn an understanding of the Health, Social care and Early years sectors through the investigation and evaluation of a range of services.
Candidates will develop an awareness of the influences on an individual's health and well-being and to highlight the importance of motivation and support when improving health.
Candidates will be encouraged to recognise the importance of the stages of development of an individual and their relationships.
A GCSE double award is an ideal qualification for those candidates who would like a broad background in Health and Social Care and the course of study can reasonably be undertaken by candidates entering this vocational area for the first time.
Candidates study 3 mandatory units
Unit 1 and Unit 2 are by coursework assessment.
Unit 3 is assessed by external examination
The qualification is equivalent to any GCSE qualification.
Progression to AS/A2 Health and Social Care qualifications or National Diploma's in the Health area.Also enables candidates to enter employment at operative or trainee level within a wide range of H and SC environments
