Media Studies A Level at Lytham Sixth Form College

Course description

Media graduates have highly developed communication skills, particularly beneficial for careers based in PR consultancies, communications agencies, marketing organisations and media companies, but also in local and central government and within colleges and universities. Our Media Studies A level is excellent preparation for a host of related undergraduate programmes, allowing students to develop a thorough understanding of the contemporary media landscape. The course begins with an exploration of the various aspects of television, advertising and lifestyle texts but as it progresses, students are encouraged to research particular enthusiasms, for example the video-games industry or issues connected to social networking.

Entry requirements

In order to study this A level programme students must gain 5 GCSEs at grades A* - C including English Language at grade B.

Assessment

A Levels are assessed by a mixture of coursework and exams.
