Product Design A Level at Accrington St Christopher's Church of England High School

Course description

Students will be expected to draw on knowledge from a range of technology areas including Electronics, Engineering, Resistant Materials and Graphics; however it is possible to tailor projects to draw on areas of greater expertise within these subjects.

Students will learn the theory of material properties, industrial manufacturing processes, CAD CAM and sketching / technical drawing skills. They will also experience hands on prototyping and experimentation; working with a range of materials in our fully equipped workshops. Throughout this process, students will benefit from opportunities to view industrial design practice and manufacture through visits to companies and benefit from client feedback on their designs.

In the AS year, students undertake a range of smaller projects that combine to create a coursework folder of best evidence. In the A2 year, students undertake a final coursework project of their choice in more depth.
