Maths at South Nottinghamshire Academy
Students will follow AQA Mathematics (6360) non coursework option. A Level Mathematics is made up of six units. Three are studied in year 12 and three in year 13. All units are of equal weighting and are examined by a one and a half hour paper in May/June. A level Further Mathematics is not offered by many schools and colleges as it requires specialist teaching. It is highly regarded by universities, particularly for students applying for mathematics, science and engineering. The leading universities require further maths for mathematics and in some cases physics applicants. Students wishing to apply for medicine at university should check the latest information from universities before choosing further maths as a fourth subject.
Students must have studied Higher GCSE for at least two years and achieved a minimum of grade B.
