This course is aimed at anyone wanting to improve their employment prospects, progress in education or live a more independent working
Learners may have achieved some Entry Level 2 qualifications in school which they now want to extend to include skills for employment particularly in Retail and Customer Service.
This course is about preparing for employment, building skills, knowledge and confidence through team work. You will take part in
work experience running a retail enterprise.

Introduction to keeping work clean, tidy and safe in a retail environment
Basic cooking /Serving Food and Drink

Rights and responsibilities in the workplace
Searching and applying for jobs
Improving interview skills
Managing time and money for leisure activities
You will also have regular study in English & Maths in order to gain qualifications in all three functional skills.
You may have qualifications at Entry Level 2 in English & Maths or otherwise demonstrate that you can study at this level. You are expected to show commitment to learn and progress to work. All learners are invited to take part in an interview when we can discuss your learning aim and any learning support needs.
Continuous assessment by building a portfolio of evidence. Maths & English are taught continuously and assessed through timed tests.
Apron: £7.00. Visits to the local area to look at retail or hospitality venues may be planned when you may buy a lunch of your choosing. Leisure costs will be planned and agreed by you.
After this course you could progress to a Level 1 course in Retail, Hospitality and Customer Service. You will gain work experience in a Retail outlet within College and may join our referral programme to Open or Supported Employment.
