Netball Academy at New College Swindon

Course description

The Netball Academy is designed for students aged 16-19 years who wish to develop their netball skills.  It offers netball and training in combination with full-time education.

The Netball Academy is sanctioned and supported by England Netball.

New College has a reputation for excellence, having been South of England champions on five occasions in the past.

Course content

Training will take place indoors and you will play select games on Wednesdays.

Matches cater for all abilities and include games against local sixth forms and colleges in Wiltshire.

For the county and regional standard players there will be representative fixtures, cup matches and games against schools from the South, South West and the Midlands.

Coaching is currently undertaken by Sue Harrison and Pat Harris, who are fully qualified by England Netball.  They have a great deal of experience in coaching youth players at county and regional level.

Alongside your netball training you will take a full-time academic programme.

You can choose from our AS/A Level and GCSE programme, or from our range of vocational and BTEC courses.  Most choices can be accommodated by our flexible timetable.

Entry requirements

Students of all abilities are welcome to trial; you need to demonstrate an interest in developing your netball skills and two squads will be selected from players demonstrating good skills, fitness ability and commitment to the training programme.

Future opportunities

Players will have the opportunity to be scouted by regional and national selectors through New College’s fixtures and tournaments.
