Art and Design - OCR Cambridge Technical Level 2 Diploma at East Durham College
The OCR Level 2 programme gives a rounded approach, not just as a visual artist but to the industry as a whole. You will gain experience in creating, researching, advertising and using digital technology where you will learn techniques as well as create your own pieces. You will have the chance to work in fine art, graphics, crafts, interactive media and photography to name but a few.
The programme is 'learner responsive' which means we build projects around the learners who have chosen this programme of study. You will be given guidance over the development of projects, to help you develop independence. You will also participate in annual events such as the Art Exhibition and Arts Festival.
3 GCSEs with grades D or above (including Maths and English)
The work you complete is graded as 'Pass' / Merit / Distinction' and you will have two opportunities to submit work for assessment for each unit. The course is assessed internally by an Assessor, before being Internally and Externally Verified to check the marking is consistent.
If you have been a UK resident for the past 3 years and are under the age of 19 on the 31st August, you will not usually need to pay any course fees.
Progression after this programme could be to an OCR Cambridge Technicals Level 3 Introductory Diploma in Art and Design. You will have exposure to a range of practical activities through workshops, live projects, events and work experience to develop practical skills and theoretical portfolios to prepare you for the next level of study.
Students can progress onto an OCR Introductory Diploma (Level 3). The OCR Level 2 Diploma provides a stepping stone into employment within the Art and Design Industry.
