Course description


Further maths is for students who really enjoy their mathematics and don’t mind admitting it. You will be someone who realises that there are solutions to problems and then there are interesting solutions to problems. You will like seeing the links between different topics within mathematics and you will want to know why those links exist . If you choose Further Mathematics , you must also select Mathematics.

Course content

You will study pure mathematics, mechanics, statistics and decision maths . Pure maths includes topics such as algebra, coordinate geometry, trigonometry and calculus. In mechanics, statistics , and decision maths you will discover how maths can be used in practical situations.

Entry requirements

5 GCSE grades A* - C including A or A* in Maths


To successfully complete A levels in mathematics and further mathematics you will need to take (and reach the minimum requirement in) 12 modules. There are 6 compulsory pure maths modules.

The remaining 6 applied modules will cove r a combination of mechanics, statistics and decision mathematics.
