Chinese at Calday Grange Grammar School

Course description

The AS level course covers the following general topic areas: Food, diet and health; Transport, travel and tourism; Education and employment; Leisure, youth interests and Chinese festivals.

Entry requirements

A grade B at GCSE Chinese is required to gain entry to this course. AS students must take the AS Unit 1 and 2. Advanced GCE students must take Units 1, 2 and 3: they may take both units as a 100 percent end-of-course examination OR they may take the AS unit at the end of the first year and the A2 unit at the end of the second year. AS Unit 1 examination requires students to demonstrate an ability to speak Chinese for 5-6 minutes in response to a short English-language stimulus, which will link to one of the four general topic areas.
