Level 2 Employability and Enterprise at Leeds City College

Course description

Whether you want to continue your studies or gain employment, this course will give you the opportunity to develop the skills essential to your next steps.

This course can help you to develo skills which can support you to continue your studies or progress onto a career. you will build on your knowledge of effectiveness CV writing and applications.

You will learn to network with professionals and have the opportunity to gain advice and guidance from a range of businesses and organisations.

You will have the opportunity to create and run an enterprise activity, developing your entrepreneurial skills.

Course content

This course focuses on:


You will develop your employability skills, helping you to secure employment in the future. This will include workshops in:

  • CV writing
  • Searching for jobs
  • Applying for jobs
  • Interview skills and career progression.

You will also receive advice and guidance on future study and employment routes.


You will develop your knowledge and understanding of enterprise by studying existing enterprises and identifying the skills behind their success. You will then develop your enterprise skills through organising and running your own enterprising activity, working in groups to develop your teamwork ability. This will also include working on a major live project with the College.

Work Experience

You will undertake an external placement during the course, either in the voluntary sector or as a work placement in your chosen vocational area.

Entry requirements

Entry requirements for this course are 3 x D’s at GCSE or equivalent. You will also need to have a keen interest in employability and enterprise.

You will undertake a group interview for this course, do not worry this is just to ensure you are at the right level for this course.


This course is practical based, with some written elements used to support this. Whilst in College you will take part in group activities and discussions and will keep a portfolio of the work done in class. You will have individual discussions with your tutor to discuss your progress and how they can support you.

Future opportunities

Upon successfully completing this course you can progress onto our Level 3 Enterprise and Entrepreneurship or our Level 3 Events course, or any other Level 3 course.

You could also:

  • Study A-Levels
  • Undertake an apprenticeship in your chosen vocational area
  • Alternatively, you could choose to enter full or part-time employment
