Hairdressing (19+) C&G Level 2 Diploma at Northampton College

Course description

You will cover a wide range of hairdressing activities. The method of learning is through practical workshops with related theory input and directed library study and research. The units you will study include: - Client Care - Ladies Cutting - Health and Safety - Colouring - Perming - Styling hair - Shampooing and conditioning - Consultation - Working in Industry - Reception There will be work experience in a commercial environment. There will also be visits to trade exhibitions/seminars throughout the year.

Course content

This course is aimed at those who wish to further develop existing skills or would like to retrain and change career direction.

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs at Grade D or above or an appropriate Level 1 qualification.

Assessment

Assessment is continuous throughout the course to include practical, written and oral assessments. A portfolio of work is also required as supporting evidence and online exams.

Future opportunities

After successful completion of this course and successfully completing a practical skills/theory test you can progress to the VRQ Level 3 in Hairdressing or NVQ Level 2 in Hairdressing.Employment opportunities include theatre, television, cruise liners, salons, salon management and self-employment or VRQ Level 2 in Beauty Therapy or VRQ Level 2 in Nail Technology.

Students aged 19 and over at the start of the course will be required to pay an Award Board registration fee of approximately £90 at enrolment. We recommend you purchase the following items and would ask you to be prepared to pay these costs when you enrol with us in September: - A uniform - Textbooks The approximate cost for these is £350.
