AS/A2 Level Business Studies at Burton and South Derbyshire College
Do you see yourself as the head of a successful business? Got some great ideas for new products or services? Or maybe you want to work for a large company by working in marketing or management. No matter what your vision, the Business Studies A Level course gives you an incredibly powerful start to launch you on to becoming a business person. All the key topics of starting and running a business are covered. This course has been designed to provide students with a critical understanding of the following: • The internal functions of contemporary business organisations of all types. • The dynamic external environment within which businesses operate and the effects this can have upon decisionmaking within a business. • Major topical issues that can generate change for business organisations and the ways in which businesses respond to these issues. • The range of stakeholder perspectives that can be taken on business activities.
A Level programme requirements are: 5 GCSEs at C or above which must include GCSE English Language and Maths or Science.
Progression on to a Foundation Degree and Higher Education. This Subject would compliment A’ Levels in Psychology, Sociology, English and Media Studies and is useful for careers in Marketing, Management Consultancy, Public Relations, Charities as well as You could take this course to complement other advanced level courses such as Accounting or to prepare for the A2 part of an Advanced GCE in Business Studies, which could lead onto higher education in areas of business studies, marketing, accounting or more general higher education courses. With further training, you could go into a job related to business studies, marketing, finance and accounting, human resources and public relations. You could also go straight into a job as the AS GCE is a recognised qualification that would support a trainee management course within a company and help you develop the skills, understanding and experience to work towards management level.
