An opportunity for an apprentice health care assistant has arisen at Rivermead Care Home. You will learn on the job whilst being paid. No qualifications are necessary but a desire to learn and an ability to take instruction are crucial.

Course content

This opportunity requires you to have a pleasant personality and a passion for care. You will be involved in everyday care tasks to include;* Helping residents with their daily activities when required* Assisting with personal hygiene* Supporting residents at meal times* Ensure a clean and comfortable environment for residents* Be actively involved in promoting choice and dignity* Attend Mandatory and legislative Training* Demonstrate a willingness to engage with colleagues and residents, that will ensure a culture of positive careYou will report to your unit lead/nurse and overall will be directed by your General Manager

Entry requirements

Desired skillsWhen new to care it is sometimes difficult to see what your own skills are, think about what you can do well and honestly incorporate this into your apprenticeship.We are looking for good communication, a sincere approach to care, a natural kindness and a willingness to learn.Personal qualitiesWe would like you to have a pleasant nature, have a can do attitude and be enthusiastic about promoting the best care we can for our residents.We need you to always be on time, turn up and engage in training and commit to your programme of learning for its duration, which will be a minimum of 12 months.We also appreciate that starting out can be challenging and ask that you talk to us, discuss your thoughts, pass on your ideas and try to embrace our whole home approach to care.Qualifications requiredNo qualifications are necessary as all training will be given.


A full induction programme will be included covering;Health and Safety, Food Safety, Fire Training, Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults SOVA and Dementia Training.Technical Certificate, Key Skills, NVQ Diploma, Employment Rights and Responsibilities. (ERR)Apprenticeship framework:Health and Social Care (Skills for Care)The training provider has achieved a sector success rate of 86% for this type of apprenticeship training.

Financial information

An apprenticeship is a programme of learning while at work. Our apprenticeships are offered free – all we ask is that you complete the programme.
Weekly wage: £150.00
