Health and Social Care Level 2 Diploma at City College Coventry
This course gives learners the opportunity to gain a broad knowledge and develop skills as well as supporting progression wherever possible on to specialized level 3 programs academic, vocational or apprenticeships. Some learners will progress directly into work in the health and social care sector.
One of the main purposes of this course is to help learners progress ultimately into employment. The course aims to equip learners with the technical skills, knowledge and understanding to enter the health and social care sector through developing a range of employability skills, engaging with employers and carrying out work related activities.
The course will have diverse Study methods including on line learning, tested units, Assignments and a overarching project.
Subjects such as Human lifespan, communications, equality and diversity, as well as specialized units i.e Understanding Disability, and an introduction to Dementia.
For 16-18 year olds this course is a Study Programme which consists of:
- Vocational Qualification
- Work Experience
* If you have not already achieved a GCSE pass at grade C or above in English and Maths you will study Maths and/ or English as an integral part of your college programme.
There is a pathway for those aged over 19+ which leads to just the Health & Social Care qualification. This doesn’t require English and maths to be studied and will therefore involve around 14 hours of tuition each week.
If you are an adult student, you will need to pay for a DBS check before you start your placement.
4 GCSEs at Grade D or above including one in English or maths
Relevant Level 1 qualification with GCSE/Level 1 in English & maths
