Texts being studied in 2013/14 include:The Kite Runner (Khaled Hosseini) The Changeling (Middleton)The Road (Cormac McCarthy)Keats (Selected poems)Ancient Mariner (Coleridge)Macbeth (Shakespeare)The Bloody Chamber (Angela Carter)The Pardoner’s Tale (Chaucer)The Importance of Being Earnest (Oscar Wilde) Progression: Students move onto a wide variety of careers as English Literature has high value as an A level qualification Through poetry, novels and plays students develop an ability to think more critically. Texts from a variety of literary periods will be studied. Students are encouraged to become independent readers.

successful completion of As level in the same subject.
