Course description

Apprenticeships are a great way to learn and earn at the same time. Once you’re in employment, your Apprenticeship can begin. You do not need to wait for the start of an academic year – an Apprenticeship can start at any time of year.

ncn offers a range of Apprenticeships in motor vehicle and through a unique partnership with Vertu Motors PLC, your apprentice will complete their college-based activity on site within a real commercial environment with a team of specialist tutors and assessors.

Course content

You'll spend your time learning from skilled professionals so you'll be ready for employment in the industry.

Your apprenticeship will include a strong mix of on the job training and guidance as well as classroom learning which will support your overall development as a technician. You'll learn how to diagnose and repair complex system faults, health and safety in the workplace, vehicle maintenance, fixing faults and delivering fantastic customer service.

Entry requirements

All students must have BOTH of the following:

  • 4 GCSEs at grades A-D including English, Maths and Science (with one at grade C)
  • Level 2 Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Intermediate Apprenticeship


Apprenticeshsips are usually free for the employee but, depending on your age, your employer may be asked to pay a contribution towards the cost of your training.


Practical and theory work are continually assessed throughout the qualification by the tutor at college and the workplace.  
You will be required to keep a portfolio of evidence generated in the work place to meet the criteria of requirements set for each individual mandatory and optional unit of the qualification.
