Automotive - Level 2 Award or Certificate in Paint Refinishing (Motor Vehicle) at Wakefield College
If you are interested in the body repair and paint refinishing aspect of the automotive industry, this is the ideal course for you. You will need either previous practical experience in this field, or a Level 1 qualification in body repair/refinishing accredited by ABC or some other awarding body.
You will study the following:
Award 4 units or Certificate 12 units, from a variety of units including:
• Mandatory Unit: Health & Safety
• Panel repair and preparation techniques
• Paint preparation and application
• Plastic preparation and repair
• Rectification of paint defects
Maths and English are key elements of any full-time programme of study in College. If you do not already have a GCSE at grade A*-C in these subjects, you will need to attend sessions allocated on your timetable. These are varied and designed to cater for all ability levels. You will receive advice and guidance regarding the correct level for you.
Skills in Maths and English will support your full-time course, assisting you with assignment writing, research, job applications, presentations, managing your own finances and interpretation of data, to mention just a few. They will also help you in the future. Most employers are looking for ability in these areas and the majority of university courses require you to have Maths and English GCSEs at A*-C. This is why the development of Maths and English is so important, whatever your field of study.
Level 1 Body/Paint with English and Maths at a minimum of Entry 3
There will be continuous assessment of your practical work carried out in the workshops, and end-of-unit examinations.
Tuition and certification are free if you are aged 16-18. Related additional costs may include materials, equipment, visits, and residentials, which are payable by all students.
Any student registered with an Awarding Body who has been given free entry and subsequently withdraws or is withdrawn by a tutor will incur the certification fee associated with the course. Any re-sit examination will incur a cost.
Different fees apply to international/overseas students and those studying this qualification as a standalone course
