Physical Education A Level OUN at Invictus Sixth Form

Course description

This subject will enable you to gain a detailed understanding of how the body and mind work before, during and after physical activity through in depth analysis of the anatomy of the human body. It also looks at studying current issues in the world of sport and analysing their effect sport in the modern world. The course is ideal for those who have a passion for sport and also perform regularly to a strong level as 30% of your grade is based on practical performance.

Entry requirements

Specific Entry Requirements:

Grade 5 or above in English and Science

Grade 5 or above in the theory element of GCSE PE.

Strong performance level in an activity is highly advised.

Assessment

70% theory exam (2 papers)

30% practical (Includes performance analysis)

Future opportunities

This course is recognised as a Level 3 Qualification alongside other subjects. The specifications provide a suitable foundation for specialist study in both Physical Education and Sports Studies in higher education and are also suitable qualifications for other areas of study. The specifications provide an excellent foundation for candidates intending to pursue careers in teaching and coaching, sports development, the leisure industry, recreational management, health, leisure and fitness and professional sport.
