Administration (Business Professional) Level 2 Diploma at Bath College

Course description

This level 2 administration course covers secretarial skills and areas such as organising business travel and accommodation, producing effective business communications, team working in administration, alongside IT skills relevant to the current business environment.

 

This course reflects the skills and knowledge required of those in an administrative role with accountability.

 

You will develop your core skills in organisation, teamwork, maths and English, written communication, presentation of self as well as receiving and acting upon direction.

 

You will be expected to work outside of timetabled hours to take part in important events, trips and assessments.

 

The course will enable you to learn how to collaborate with people outside of your own subject area within the department of Technology, Enterprise, Media and Performing Arts.

 

You will learn and experience first-hand how modern business administrative environments operate.

 

You will have access to guest speakers from local companies relevant to your pathway of study.

 

You will have support in obtaining exciting and relevant work experience.

 

You will be provided with live briefs alongside real businesses enabling you to engage with vocationally relevant challenges and tasks. As a result of this, you will have high expectations placed upon you.

 

You will explore the use of social media in the business environment.

Course content

During this course you will explore the many aspects of Administration.

 

This course is set up over one academic year and will push you both vocationally and academically.

 

You will study units such as :

 

  • Working in Administration
  • Effective Business Communication
  • Organising Business Travel and Accommodation
  • Using Office Equipment
  • Text Production
  • Business Presentation
  • Wording Processing
  • Team Working in Administration
  • Managing Diary Systems

 

You will collaborate with other students and staff outside of your own subject areas.

 

You will have the opportunity to apply for a short work placement abroad.

Entry requirements

GCSEs grades D – A with a grade C or above in English.

Assessment

The work on the Level 2 Administration programme is vocational and assessed by written assignments plus 3 IT skills exams. You will be expected to submit evidence in a variety of ways including presentations, and reports to show your understanding of the units on the programme.
