Course description

This level 1 introductory course offers you the perfect route into the exciting world of engineering technology.

Course content

You will develop skills in:
• Working safely in engineering
• Making engineering components using hand-tools
• Using a bench/pedestal drilling machine
• Planning and making a machined product
• Assembling mechanical components
• Joining materials using welding
• Electronic assembly
• Wiring electrical circuits and components
• Routine servicing of mechanical equipment
• Routine servicing of an electrical/electronic system
• Searching and applying for a job

Entry requirements

A minimum of 4 GCSEs with the following grades: English at 2 and maths at 2 or above, and 2 other GCSEs grade 2 or above including Science or a technology based subject AND a multi- choice engineering aptitude test.

Assessment

You will be assessed using a portfolio of
evidence collected throughout the course.

Financial information

As a full time student you should not need to pay any course or examination fees (under 19).

There may be a cost for equipment, educational visits, printing etc.
