Biology *Fees Payable* at Cobham Hall *Fees Payable*

Course description

A Level Biology is relevant to everyone and the course covers topics that are important for all. It is seen as a stepping stone to future study but it should be regarded, also, as a part of essential learning in its own right. At Cobham Hall, students experience a practical approach to learning Biology, including fieldwork. As well as delving into complex aspects of inheritance, genetics, biochemistry and homeostasis, it also covers the effects of drugs on the nervous system, coronary health, the control of disease and the importance of conservation. A good biologist is able to recall a lot of information, apply knowledge accurately, describe and explain observations and patterns in data, use language accurately, and be able to carry out practical work effectively to obtain good quality results.

Future opportunities

Progression after Sixth Form: Many students go on to read Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary Science, Biology, Zoology, Environmental Science, or Psychology. Studying a science shows a certain level of logical thinking and an ability to apply knowledge. Career prospects for graduate biologists are increasing in number and exciting new opportunities are opening up in areas such as molecular genetics and biotechnology. On the other hand, many students who have enjoyed their study of biology go on to successful careers in other fields, such as industry, law and commerce.
