Course description

Below you will find some information regarding the A-Level Language course. Please note that there are some entry requirements for this course.

Course content

As part of this course, the four skills developed in GCSE Languages are further developed. Topics range from youth culture, education and employment and the world around us.

Entry requirements

Five A* - C grades including Maths and English are required to access this course with candidates having ideally achieved at least a grade B at GCSE.


All components of the award are externally assessed as followed:
At AS:
 Speaking: 8—10 minutes
 Listening/ reading/ writing: 2 hours and 30 minutes
At A2:
 Speaking (debate) 11—13 minutes
 Translation/ essay/ report: 2 hours and 30 minute

Further information

All components of the award are externally assessed. Learning any language requires enthusiasm and dedication. You will discover more about the global society, and this A-Level will support your interest in business, travel, law and health. You will be exposed to new cultures and literature written in the language you are studying. Naturally, a passion for learning languages is important.
