A very high percentage of our students progress into employment within the sector and also to Higher Education degrees including nursing, social work, early years teaching, allied health professions and foundation degrees.
This course is particularly designed for students wishing to progress into a career as a nurse, operating department, social worker or other health profession. The course is ideal for those who have a true passion for working within the NHS or private sector.
What will I study?
•You will cover anatomy and physiology, nutrition, infection prevention and control
•You will develop your knowledge of equality and diversity and health and safety
•You will widen your personal and professional development •As part of the course you will take part in short work placements in vocational settings
What added value will I receive?
You will be taught by industry specialists such as practicing nurses. We also have strong links with the local hospitals, Foundation Trusts and teaching hospitals
•Either five GCSEs at grade C or above, including English and maths
•Or a Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care or Science at Merit grade or above, with GCSE maths and GCSE English at grade C or above
•You will be required to have a clear DBS check and receive clearance from occupational health services
•Positive references and interview
•You will be assessed through a variety of methods including essays, presentations and observed tasks
•The work placement element forms part of the assessment and 100% attendance is required
