Course description

Course Overview : The course develops students’ skills, knowledge and understanding of the health, social care and early years’ sectors and the settings, job roles, principles and values involved. All units are centre-assessed and externally moderated by OCR. Awards are graded as Pass, Merit or Distinction. MANDATORY UNITS UNIT 1 WORKING TO QUALITY PRACTICE IN CARE SETTINGS UNIT 2 WORKING WITH SERVICE USERS IN CARESETTINGS UNIT 3 BEHAVIOURAL AWARENESS IN CARE UNIT 4 APPLIED PRACTICAL CARE IN SETTINGS OPTIONAL UNITS choice of eight from: Unit 05 - Advanced first aid and health and safety Unit 07 - Introduction to counselling skills Unit 08 - Coping with stress in care environments Unit 11 - Career planning for the health, social care and early years sector Unit 14 - Understanding medical aspects of health Unit 16 - Anatomy and physiology for health and care Unit 17 - Health education and promotion Unit 22 - Developing skills for voluntary work Unit 27 - Developing skills to care for babies

Future opportunities

Post-18 Progression: HND or degree courses in related subjects; employment at trainee level in health, care or early years settings SUGGESTED SUBJECT COMBINATIONS: This subject would combine well with Biology, Psychology and Sociology.
