Drama & Theatre Studies A-Level at The West Bridgford School

Course description

Drama & Theatre Studies allows students to gain a practical and theoretical knowledge of drama from different periods and the technical and performance skills of live theatre.

YEAR 12:

Study two plays from a performance perspective and present extracts to a live audience.

Study the work of two theatre practitioners, examining their performance theories from a practical perspective. 

Visit a variety of theatrical productions and reflect on them in an examination.

YEAR 13:

Study two prescribed plays: one pre-1900 play and one 20th Century or contemporary play. Students will study these from a practi-cal perspective but it will be examined in a written paper.

Devise a piece of drama for performance.

Assessment- in both years, students will sit one written examination and complete one practical assessment.

 

Entry requirements

Grade B in GCSE Drama or English, within one of the below:

3 A Level subjects + General Studies: 3 Grade B in chosen subjects + 2 Grade C, including Grade B in Maths & English Language

4 A Level subjects + General Studies: 2 Grade A/A* + 2 Grade B in chosen subjects + 1 Grade C, including Grade B in Maths & English Language
