Food Technology AS/A Level at The Ripley Academy

Course description

This specification is designed to encourage candidates to:

  • Develop a broad view of design and technology
  • Develop their capacity to design and make products
  • Appreciate the complex relations between design, materials,         manufacture and marketing.

There are two units for each of AS and four for A level, with an examination and a coursework unit at both levels. Candidates taking the A level qualification must take all four units.

Entry requirements

It would be beneficial for students to have a GCSE qualification in Food Technology A-C grade.

Assessment

The course is assessed by coursework and written examinations of equal weight throughout the AS and A level qualification.

Future opportunities

A Level in Food Technology will prepare you for higher education and a rewarding career as a chef, food technologist, food designer or nutritionist. Other possible career paths include social work, teaching or medicine.
