Art and Design at Notre Dame Roman Catholic School

Course description

This course encourages students to further explore and research a wide range of media in order to acquire an increasing understanding of skills and techniques. You produce both a sketchbook and number of design sheets which use a range of source material to develop personal inquiry. This may include notes, experimental studies, collected images, artist references as well as drawings and sketching and demonstrate an interest in the arts which extends beyond the course requirements. Drawing forms an important element of this course and you will be required to work from observation, life figures, still life and landscape to explore a range of media.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at grade C and above and have gained a ‘B’ grade or above at GCSE Art & Design, or demonstrate a strong commitment to the arts and have achieved a C grade in GCSE English or the equivalent.
