Applied Science BTEC Level 3 at Burnley College
This course provides insight into the practical application of science, covering topics such as science and the community, energy and efficiency, analysis methods, practical techniques and the human body.
To take four AS Levels in Year 1 (leading to three or four A Levels in Year 2):
At least six GCSEs at grades A to C, including both English and Maths.
To take three AS Levels in Year 1 (leading to three A Levels in Year 2):
At least five GCSEs at grades A to C, including both English and Maths.
A minimum of a grade B/C (the B can be in Core or Additional) in GCSE Dual Science paper.
Entry criteria for all qualifications are subject to a reference from your previous school or place of study.
You will be assessed by a portfolio of coursework for Units 1 and 2 and an examination for Unit 3.
The study of Applied Science can lead to university study and careers in diverse areas including environmental science, the energy industry, forensics, materials technology or sustainability.

Science students have access to our large, flexible open plan Science Hub with lab equipment and facilities available to support teaching and learning.
