Course description

Over the two year course candidates will study
modules in Religious Ethics and Philosophy
of Religion leading to an A Level in Religious
Studies:
AS Level:
Philosophy of Religion
- Ancient Greek influences on Philosophy of
Religion - Plato and Aristotle
- Traditional arguments for the existence of
God, e.g. Design argument
- Challenges to religious belief, e.g. the
problem of evil
Religious Ethics
- Ethical theories such as Utilitarianism, Kant
and Natural Law
- Applied Ethics topics such as Euthanasia,
Genetic Engineering and Abortion
A2 Level:
Philosophy of Religion
- Religious Language and the Nature of God
- Life after Death
- Miracles and Religious Experience
Religious Ethics
- Meta-Ethics
- Conscience
- Free Will and Determinism
- Virtue Ethics
- Applied Ethics topics such as Business and
Environmental Ethics

Entry requirements

AS/A2 levels (2 years)
5 or more Grades at B or above, all of which
must come from separate courses.
In line with other institutions, we also expect
higher grade passes in Maths and English, in
order to access Level 3 courses.
To take Maths AS/A2, you must have at least
an A grade in order to take up the course
In the larger, on-line prospectus there are
entry requirements for each subject. In general,

at least a B grade is required to take
a subject at AS/A2 level
