Childcare (BTEC Level 3 National Award) at Morecambe Community High School

Course description

The National Award in Children’s Care Learning and development is one of Morecambe Community High newest courses. The course will give students the necessary knowledge to equip them for, employment in the childcare sector of society or even gain further recognition by progressing to higher education in a wide range of child care related courses. This is a challenging Level 3 course which is exciting and rigorous. Successful students are licensed to practice to work with children in a professional capacity in child care and education settings as qualified Level 3 Practitioners.

Course content

The Edexcel Level 3 BTEC National Award in Children’s Care, Learning and Development consists of 5 core units that provide students with a clear knowledge and understanding of the child care sector

Observation, assessment and planning


Meeting children’s physical development, physical care and health needs



Unit 1 is exam based. The exam will take place in year 12. All other units are coursework. All course work needs to be typed up. You will also need to have excellent organisational skills so that you meet your deadlines.
