Travel & Tourism - Take Off Into Travel Diploma Level 2 at City College Brighton and Hove

Course description

This exciting program has been designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to gain employment within the airline industry. Or to provide you will a stronger direction within the travel industry.

Travel and Tourism is one of the most exciting and vibrant industries in the world. You could be helping someone find their dream holiday, travelling the world as a flight attendant, helping people party in sunny locations as a holiday rep, or progressing through the ranks as a top manager.

Our courses, taught by staff with many years experience working in the industry, also equip you with the skills and confidence to pursue a career in many other fields.

The department has fantastic links with some of the largest travel companies in the world, including British Airways, First Choice Holidays, Tui, Swissport, Menzies and Virgin
Atlantic and guest speakers regularly share their industry knowledge with students. Students also benefit from overseas educational visits to destinations such as New York and Barcelona along with UK-based educational visits to locations such as Heathrow, Thorpe Park and the British Airways Training Academy.

Course content

Units of study for the introduction to cabin crew and the introduction to Travel and Tourism include:
 Airline Health, Safety, Security and Legislation
 Airline Emergency Procedures
 Crew Room Duties
 Role of Cabin Crew (on board)
 Preparation for Employment
 Investigating Travel and Tourism
 Travel and Tourism Support Services
 Customer Service
The course is assessed by internal and external bodies with formal progress tests and assignments taken throughout the course and continuous feedback on your progress.
Assessment will be a combination of exams, written work and role plays

Entry requirements

To provide evidence of a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade E or equivalent, to include English and Maths.

Financial information

All full time courses are free to EU residents who are under 19 years old on the 31st August 2016. The only fees you have to pay are for specialist resources and equipment and the cost of these varies from £25 to £300 depending upon the subject you are studying.

Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible for financial help from the college's learner support funds. You should apply for financial support as soon as you receive your offer letter.

Future opportunities

Successful completion off the course will equip you with the skills and confidence to apply for jobs in the travel industry. Alternatively you may wish to consider progressing on to our BTEC Level 3 Travel and Tourism course.
