Sport Coaching NVQ at The Duston School

Course description

The Duston School are pleased to continue to offer the highly successful NVQ Sport Coaching as part of their post 16 provision for September 2010.

Course content

This full-time course combines coaching awards in football and associated sports, playing time, ICT accreditations and the NVQ Level One qualification. There is also the opportunity to take supplementary courses offered including NPLQ and sports leaders awards. The course will take place on campus using a variety of playing and workshop facilities.

The course will be staffed by highly qualified FA coaches and tutor assessors. After one year it is fully expected that students will continue their studies for a second year to achieve NVQ Level Two.

Entry requirements

Each student will be expected to have a high level of personal fitness and wear the new NVQ football training kit available at subsidised rates.

Students must be fully committed to all aspects of the course, and have 5 GCSEs grades A-E or a letter of support from The Head of Sport and Performance Faculty.

Assessment

  • Full-time one year programme
  • Males and Females
  • Level One Certificate in Coaching Football (FA)
  • Level Two Award in Coaching Studies (FA)
  • Emergency First Aid and Child Protection
  • Referee Award
  • NVQ in Level One in Sport, Recreation and Allied Occupations
  • ICT qualification
  • Progression to NVQ Level Two
