Course description

The NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (QCF) course is aimed individuals working as care assistant or support worker in any care settings or looking pursue higher education in Nursing and Social Work

Course content

To achieve the Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adults) for England (QCF), learners must achieve a total of 58 credits. With our approach, you will have the option study for 60 credits which is the number of credits required for admission into most UK Universities UK for a Nursing or Social Work degree. The qualification will confirm knowledge, skills and competence for those working with adults and children across all social care settings, including residential settings, primary care environments, domiciliary services, day services and supported living. 28 credits must be taken from the mandatory units and a maximum of 7 credits from Group B and a minimum of 23 credits from Group C.

Section 1 – Mandatory Units (Minimum: 28/ Maximum: 28)

  • 001 – Promote Communication in Health, Social Care or Children’s and Young People’s Settings
  • 002 – Engage in Personal Development in Health, Social Care or Children’s and Young People’s Settings
  • 003 – Promote Equality and Inclusion in Health, Social Care or Children’s and Young People’s Settings
  • 004 – Principles for Implementing Duty of Care in Health, Social Care Or Children’s and Young People’s Settings
  • 005 – Principles of Safeguarding and Protection in Health and Social Care
  • 006 – The Role of The Health and Social Care Worker
  • 007 – Promote Person Centred Approaches in Health and Social Care
  • 008 – Promote and Implement Health and Safety in Health and Social Care]
  • 009 – Promote Good Practice in Handling Information in Health and Social Care Settings

Section 2 – Optional Knowledge Units (Minimum: 2/ Maximum: 7)

  • 011 – Understand Mental Wellbeing and Mental Health Promotion
  • 012 – Understand Mental Health Problems

 

Section 3 – Optional Competence Units (Minimum: 23/ Maximum: 0)

  • 046 – Develop and Sustain Effective Working Relationships with Staff in Other Agencies
  • 056 – Move and Position Individuals in Accordance with their Plan of Care
  • 068 – Facilitate Person-Centred Assessment, Planning, Implementation and Review
  • 074 – Support Individuals with Specific Communication Needs
  • 080 – Support Use of Medication in Social-Care Settings
