Hairdressing - Level 2 NVQ Diploma at Blackpool and The Fylde College

Course description

This qualification can be completed over one year where those wishing for a career in the hairdressing industry. The course is practical based offering a wide range of skills such as cutting, colouring, perming, variety of hair styling techniques supported by underpinning knowledge for each unit by assignment workshops, theory workshops, functional skills and tutorials. It also gives students opportunities for timed workplaced assessments in a realistic working environment. Students will have the oppportunities to work in commercial salons at both campuses with state of the art resources and equipment.

Course content

The qualification to be achieved is a nationally recognised NVQ level 2, you will gain all the required underpinning knowledge to assist you in completing the assessments for the qualification. Vocational skills, employability and communication skills.

Entry requirements

3 GCSEs at grade C or above OR First Certificate at merit OR Introductory Diploma OR relevant Foundation qualification.

Assessment

Learners will be assessed throughout the course with continuous assessments such as all practical work is assessed as and when learners are ready, we have formative and summative assessments, each unit has a number of observations to be assessed per student. With all full time courses additional components such as functional skills and on line assessments (one file) are within the core/ criteria of the curriculum. Learners will also be assessed on written papers, assignments and functional skills.
