Why should I take this course?
The primary aim of Step On is to provide a curriculum that promotes functional skills and independence in preparation for everyday living and participation in the ‘world of work’.
What will I learn on this course?
On this course you will learn the following:
Functional skills in English, Mathematics and ICT
Skills in independence and work
Personal and Social skills such as setting goals and working with others
What do I need to join this course?
A good attendance and punctuality record. Commitment, a desire to be as independent as possible.
You will be interviewed to judge your suitability for enrolment on the course.
Good timekeeping, attendance and a willingness to learn will be important factors for completion on the course.
How will I be assessed?
Courses will be individually tailored to meet students’ personal needs and to develop their skills through relevant and practical experience within college and out in the wider community. Edexcel accreditation.
Students can apply for support from the Student Support Funcd (£20-33 per week).
What will I be able to do after the course finishes?
This course will prepare you for progression into further education for courses aimed at increased independence.
What qualification will I achieve if I successfully complete this course?
Edexcel entry level qualifications in:
Function skills in English, Mathematics and ICT where relevant
Personal and Social Development
Skills for independence and work
