DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY –PRODUCT DESIGN AND SYSTEMSAND CONTROL at The Weald School

Course description

During this course, you will develop the skills to become a creative and innovative designer of products. You will explore and acquire the ability to appreciate the complex relationshipwhich exists between design, materials and their manufacture. You will learn to understand the impact that designers haveon society and the environment and what, as a designer, you can do to help improve it. The course has been constructed to ensure that you receive a broad overview of technologyand gives you the opportunity to design and make a product of your choice in response to a client’s brief. If you like creative,challenging and independent work you will enjoy this course.

Entry requirements

Preferred minimum grade: Grade C in either GCSE Product Design or Systems and Control and additionally a Grade C in GCSE English Language.

Recommended attributes: An interest in designing and making products which could include computer controlled, electronic or mechanical systems.
