A Level German at St Peter's Catholic School

Course description

If you enjoy communicating and have an interest in language and the culture it represents, then an A Level in a foreign language is for you. German A Level is highly regarded by top universities. Equally, it develops skills which can be used in other careers or studies and, of course, for personal and leisure purposes. A modern language is a valuable asset in many careers: tourism, translation work, interpreting, law, banking, teaching and particularly in many areas of science, business, commerce and industry.

AS Course Outline
Unit 1 - Speaking
Unit 2 - Listening, Reading, Writing
Topics include Aspects of Daily Life, Leisure and Entertainment, Communication and Media, Education and Training. The emphasis of the course can be tailored to suit the interests of the students.

A2 Course Outline
Topics include Social Issues, the Environment, Science and Technology and Culture.
Unit 3 - Speaking
Unit 4 - Listening, Reading, Writing 2

Entry requirements

In order to study AS/A2 German we require you to have achieved at least a Grade B in GCSE German. You will need to be willing to communicate in German, to develop an interest in and understanding of German speaking countries, and a willingness to travel.
