Performing Arts BTEC National Level 3 Diploma at North Liverpool Academy
This is a practical course which involves learning and developing advanced performance skills in dance, drama and music.
Previously studying expressive arts, performing arts, dance or drama would be an advantage.
Through creative workshops you will be given the opportunity to explore a variety of dance techniques and styles. You will learn how to develop your own choreography and will gain practical experience that will prepare you for the professional world of dance.
In drama you will study units such as developing vocal technique, principles of acting and performance to an audience. This will develop both your acting skills and your understanding of the art form.
The music modules are focused on developing your singing skills, both as a member of an ensemble and as a solo performer. You will also be given the opportunity to learn a musical instrument.
Throughout the course all three art forms are integrated, resulting in large scale musical theatre productions.
Block 1, 2 and 3: Developing Contemporary Dance Technique, Dance Performance, Performing to an Audience
Block 4 and 5: Performing Arts Business, Performance Workshop, Movement Skills
Block 1, 2 and 3: Dance Appreciation, Theatre for Children, Film and TV Acting
Block 4 and 5: Choreographic Principles, Variety Performance, Singing Skills for Actors and Dancers
Grade C or above in GCSE English alongside enthusiasm and commitment to developing skills in the performing arts.
This is a very practical and vocational course. You will be assessed in terms of both your practical work and your coursework. There is no final examination as you are assessed throughout the course.
The National BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Performing Arts will contribute to your qualifications providing you with the skills required for many exciting and rewarding careers. The course will also develop your confidence, social and communication skills – necessary for any job or career. This course will allow you to progress into university and further education and study Performing Arts, Dance, Drama and Musical Theatre or simply give the points you need to get to university and study another chosen area. The course is also designed to prepare you for the professional world of the Performing Arts industry. This course is ideal if you want to pursue a career as a dancer, actor, musician, theatre technician, arts manager or performing arts teacher or outreach worker.
