Business National Extended Diploma Level 3 at Sunderland College

Course description

If you have a keen interest in finding out about how businesses work and enjoy study that is based on realistic workplace situations, then this is the ideal course for you.

Course content

The four mandatory units cover the business environment, how to manage resources, marketing and effective business communication.
You can then choose from a selection of specialist units including:

  • Further finance
  • Accounting
  • Recruitment and selection
  • Developing teams
  • Business law
  • Starting your own business.

 

Entry requirements

You’’ll need four GCSEs at grade C or above including literacy and numeracy at an appropriate level; or a suitable Level 2 qualification or BTEC First Diploma.

Assessment

The course is practical, theoretical and realistic. You’ll be assessed through report writing, presentations, creating newsletters, observed role plays, group activities and time constrained tasks.  You’ll also have the opportunity to gain industry experience through guest speakers, visits or taking part in regional enterprise events.

Future opportunities

After successfully completing the course you could progress onto higher education through a foundation degree or study a degree at university. You could also look for work in areas such as Human Resources, Marketing or Finance.

    • Bede Campus is located just outside Sunderland city centre on Durham Road.

      It provides an excellent learning environment for academic and vocational courses including new state of the art science labs and a dedicated learning resource centre with internet café, helping ensure the quality of our education is matched by our facilities.

      As the dedicated campus for our sports provision the Sports Academy building spans some 30,000 sq.ft and features a includes a multi-use sports hall, sports science performance lab, sports massage treatment areas, exercise studio and fully equipped gym with TechnoGym cardiovascular machines. The campus also features the multi million pound Goals Soccer Centrecomprising of 10 floodlit all weather synthetic pitches. These facilities are used extensively for lessons and are also available free of charge for any of our students.

      Spanning 50,000 square feet, the Visual and Performing Arts building features a theatre; film screening room; media/TV, drama, dance, art, and fashion and clothing studio; two industry standard recording studios; a music technology suite; photography studio; dark room and film processing facilities.
