Literacy Functional Skills Level 2 at Barrow-in-Furness Sixth Form College

Course description

Functional Skills English is aimed at students who have not yet achieved at least a grade D in GCSE English; it can act as a stepping stone towards achieving the GCSE C grade in future years.

The course is designed to enhance your confidence and skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening, which will support your learning in other subjects and increase your opportunities outside college, both social and professional. More specifically, you will develop your understanding of audience, purpose and context through the study of a range of relevant texts. The tests are taken at various points throughout the college year; you will be entered for them when your tutor deems you are ready to be successful in them!
