Animal Management (Business Pathway) C&G 90 Credit Diploma Level 3 at Kingston Maurward College

Course description

If you are interested in running your own animal related enterprise, you will need a solid combination of animal management experience and business skills.

This one year pathway will teach you how to apply planning, retail and merchandising skills to animal related business while developing your expertise in anatomy, feeding, handling, welfare and much more.

This business pathway will provide you with additional knowledge and qualifications to enhance your prospects of employment or further study either directly within the animal industry or transfer to a similar industry.

This course forms the first year of the two year Level 3 Extended Diploma. Successfully completing the 90 Credit Diploma will allow you to fast track directly into the second year of the Level 3 Extended Diploma and complete a higher qualification.

Units include:

  • Animal health
  • Accommodation and Feeding
  • Anatomy and physiology
  • Behaviour and communication
  • Exotics
  • Handling and safe working
  • Business management in the landbased sector
  • Business planning and improvement in the landbased sector
  • Retail Merchandising for the landbased sector

Entry requirements

Four GCSEs Grade C or above - to include English, maths and science OR Level 2 qualification in Animal Care with Distinction plus Level 2 Functional Skills. Recent experience of working with animals is essential.

Financial information

Courses leading to a qualification are FREE for British citizens, aged under 19 years on 31 August in the academic year you start your course.* However, there may be some additional costs for clothing/kit and trips depending on your course.  You can apply to the Bursary Fund for extra help towards the cost of transport, food, equipment or childcare.
