Course description

This course provides learners with an introduction to working in the hair and beauty sector with the opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge required for working in the industry.

  • Structure and working practices of the hair and beauty sector  
  • Health, safety and security in the workplace  
  • Skin and nail care  
  • Styling women's and men's hair  
  • Plaiting and twisting  
  • Art of photographic make up 
  • English  Maths  ICT 
  • Personal and Social Development Award

Entry requirements

Entry level 3 in English or Maths or achieve an equivalent level in the initial College assessment.

Financial information

Prior to starting the course learners are expected to purchase their own uniform and beauty kit costing approximately £70. Learners will need to purchase a further kit for the second part of the course (£124 for the hair option & £60 for the beauty option) which they will keep when the course is finished to use in their future career.

Future opportunities

Progression to level 2 qualification or an apprenticeship.
