Philosophy AS and A Level at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School Penrith
This A level in Philosophy has four parts to it. The first two parts are studied in year 12 and the second two in year 13.
Part One: Epistemology. Epistemology is the study of knowledge or the study of what it means to know.
Part Two: Philosophy of Religion: One of the most enduring ideas in the history of humanity is the idea of God.
Part 3: Ethics.An important area of philosophy concerns the nature of right and wrong.
Part 4: Philosophy of Mind. In the final section of the course we examine the nature of the mind and its relation to the body.
Pupils wishing to enter the course will need to have achieved grade B at GCSE.
This A level will be assessed via two exams. The first exam will be taken at the end of year 12 and the second at the end of year 13.
